Where do I begin? I've been playing for over 18 years; I've owned all the brands (except Gibsons) I've had guitars close to the 3k price range. In my years of playing, I've learned to appreciate the simple and functional things in life. Like most guitarist I came to be extremely picky over what I choose to play on. I also learned the price of a guitar is irrelevant and now more than ever with the modern instruments that are available. For about 5 years I played on a POS ibanez acoustic guitar. Loved the guitar from the moment I first played it. The neck and feel of the guitar blew me away. I paid 400 dollars for that guitar and it infuriated me that something so cheaply made could play and sound so good. I am a firm believer that the player makes the sound not the guitar (in terms of price) For years the only guitar that could best the POS Ibanez was my expensive Taylor. Not a fair fight of course but after taking it to 2 shows I became extremely paranoid being that not only was it an expensive guitar but such a beauty to look at, you almost don't want to play it. As the years went on that old POS Ibanez was beginning to show the wear and tear (CHEAP GUITAR HELLO) the chords would no longer ring as they should, probably due to intonation issues. Again cheap guitar! I tried the lower end Taylor guitars, GREAT guitars, loved everything but again no built-in tuner? Really its 2025? Yes, I can tune the guitar myself but when you're jamming or playing a show, you have to be ready read more to go and NO I am not carrying useless portable tuners with me. I am a simple type of guy, I show up and plug in and Lets go! I don't have time to tell everyone to hush up while I make sure strings are all tuned. Small issues nothing crazy but dammit I am who I am and I will not settle. Don't get me started on other preferences regarding guitars. As the years went on I grew tired of buying/returning guitars because they were either too big, uncomfortable or just didn't fit what I was looking for. I was looking for a workhorse guitar something that was perfect, not too expensive but not cheap like the POS Ibanez. I was going to settle on a $700-$800 Taylor... NOW THE GOOD STUFF.. ...One day I stumbled upon the Martin jr Sitka Spruce JR Cutaway.. WOW.. I was blown away.. I knew the moment I played this guitar that I had found my new workhorse guitar. . This guitar is perfect. . I immediately went online and opted for the Streetmaster JR because as an old fart myself I feel like this guitar resembles me. When the guitar finally came in, I was nervous as I've played guitars in store with great satisfaction only to be disappointed when it played different once it arrived. I am firm believer that some guitars just have that soul. WELL THIS GUITAR HAS PLENTY OF IT. I immediately began playing all sorts of songs and pieces and it passed every single test. Next up I took this axe to practice, it passed all my tests. I love the hidden controls LOVE the tuner, this guitar plays so GOOD it's almost not fair! My Expensive Taylor just hangs in my closet now. This guitar has become more than a workhorse, it has become a part of my life. I love the playability of it. The aged look, the comfortable neck, the smooth finish along with the size of the body (Grand Concert) and of course the cutaway which is a must have for what the music I currently play in our band. i look forward to growing old with this beauty. I honestly feel I won't be in the market for another 10 years, depending on how much abuse this guitar can take. This guitar is perfection and fits everything I need. I could go on and on but please if you are on the fence BUY this guitar! As I mentioned it checks off all the boxes and for me it does everything I need it to do! I apologize in advance for the rambling and spelling errors/run off sentences because I am not re-reading this nor am I making any edits.. sometimes you just have to let go and the fingers do their thing. I believe we call that music.
